The scenario\n\n CPU 0 CPU 1\n imx_mu_isr() imx_mu_shutdown()\n imx_mu_xcr_rmw(priv, IMX_MU_RCR, 0, IMX_MU_xCR_RIEn(priv->dcfg->type, cp->idx));\n imx_mu_specific_rx()\n imx_mu_xcr_rmw(priv, IMX_MU_RCR, IMX_MU_xCR_RIEn(priv->dcfg->type, 0), 0);\n free_irq()\n\nThe RX event remains enabled because in this short window the RX event\nwas disabled in ->shutdown() while the interrupt was active and then\nenabled again by the ISR while ->shutdown waited in free_irq().\n\nThis race requires timing and if happens can be problematic on shared\nhandlers if the \"removed\" channel triggers an interrupt. In this case\nthe irq-core will shutdown the interrupt with the \"nobody cared\"\nmessage.\n\nIntroduce imx_mu_con_priv::shutdown to signal that the channel is\nshutting down. This flag is set with the lock held (by\nimx_mu_xcr_clr_shut()). The unmask side uses imx_mu_xcr_set_act() which\nonly enables the event if the channel has not been shutdown and\nserialises on the same lock.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/02273054b2e94e53065ea5644265bb9d8f7ee2a7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5ccea7eacb7786c358833634f45700365f6c1d99","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/944d8509c2220a2313d4a094a646507929fb6f8d"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T07:33:01.631659812+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-98903","score":0.00172,"percentile":0.0657,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
