On failure the stored id is negative,\nfree_overlay_changeset()'s \"if (ovcs->id)\" check passes, idr_remove()\nis called with a negative id and list_del() runs on ovcs->ovcs_list,\nwhich is not initialized until after the id allocation. An allocation\nfailure at that point dereferences NULL.\n\nMake free_overlay_changeset() treat only a strict-positive id as\nregistered. The rest of the function already copes with a\npartially-initialized ovcs, so the error path stays a plain\ngoto err_free_ovcs.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0d1525fdcd3355672b7485d61e55df6824ab5ad1","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/44081d708b5b885487bac792db78324b7b4c267d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c08a54df9d33dcd6ff089adc9434b2c008af3a39","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c875407c34dadaef0599834ad9c815f4c9f50d15","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cc688475c56d34a2b584141f9544cbe23360080d"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-98854","score":0.00156,"percentile":0.04716,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
