A truncated firmware image\ncan make the parser read beyond the copied firmware buffer. A value\nsmaller than the four-byte count field also underflows, producing a very\nlarge length.\n\nRead the little-endian field with get_unaligned_le32(), as previously\nproposed by David Lechner. Validate the header size, reject an\nunderflowed length, ensure the resulting payload is contained in the\nfirmware image, and require it to contain whole register/value entries.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1a7c522a35477d70320bd64aba8e9de0c1058c6f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4a9b9f2d4e26589afd0ac099c8e5593170dd5ac7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6501b032be217ecf47e793b78a05078cf0b604ad","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/815ae0b73b69ace207b6bbf7ef428b06491c3ddb"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T23:00:53.604569364+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-98658","score":0.002,"percentile":0.09756,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
