With no response yet, those callbacks return credits\nand drop in_flight. Then compound_send_recv()'s send-error path returns\nthe same credits again. in_flight ends up decremented twice and\nsmb2_add_credits() WARNs.\n\nsyzbot hits this during SMB2_negotiate when the socket send fails.\n\ncifs_call_async() already calls delete_mid() before unlock on send\nfailure. Do the same for compound chains and set cancelled_mid[] so the\nout: path does not delete them again.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/70783946f3b5d0c06ec7df0f5e7bec2bfad24efb","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8f6f8a48399f82f4a83f7b9f25b9707e0062a4f9"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T23:00:53.604569364+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-98449","score":0.00162,"percentile":0.05372,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
