{"cve":"CVE-2026-97636","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-24T22:17:02.660","modified":"2026-09-25T17:17:21.137","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Apache Airflow HashiCorp provider: the HashiCorp Vault secrets backend's team-scope guard can be bypassed with a user-controlled key. In a multi-team deployment, a Dag author scoped to one team can supply a Variable key containing a path separator that causes the backend to resolve a secret belonging to a different team, because after the team-scoped lookup misses the backend falls back to a team-agnostic path concatenated from the unvalidated key. The Execution API Variables route accepts a path-shaped key, so this is reachable from ordinary Dag code.\n\nAffects multi-team deployments using the HashiCorp Vault secrets backend. Single-team deployments are not affected, as there is no cross-team boundary to cross. This is the same class as CVE-2026-86465, CVE-2026-68870, CVE-2026-68871 and CVE-2026-68872 in the Akeyless, Azure Key Vault, Yandex Lockbox and Amazon secrets backends.\n\nUsers of apache-airflow-providers-hashicorp are recommended to upgrade to version 4.8.0 or later, which fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-639"],"references":["https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/70006","https://lists.apache.org/thread/l0fogo9dh5v07vnsxnhoh3c74othkr51","https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-68870","https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-68871","https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-68872"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:02.509636177+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-97636","score":0.00374,"percentile":0.31392,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
