If CAP.NP claims more ports than can\nphysically fit within the mapped BAR region, accessing port registers\nbeyond the BAR boundary causes a kernel panic.\n\nAdd validation in ahci_init_one() to check that the BAR size is\nsufficient for the number of ports claimed in CAP.NP. The check\ncalculates the required MMIO size as:\n\n required_size = 0x100 (global registers) + max_ports * 0x80\n\nIf required_size exceeds the actual BAR size, the probe fails with\n-ENODEV, preventing the panic and providing a clear error message.\n\n[cassel: commit log]","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/533a08ea11217100cec7a0ed903cb9b9c892d6f1","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6d29b91164424256a759ddabc8f2de1ae09bd3f1","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c4086c6e1af757e1ff26fa2d2926b3ec0195de79","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c717b20100ef8cd06b5237af70ea2cb692e058ce","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/df262c828b616450eb351349e91c63447551bd01"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:02.509636177+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-97441","score":0.00173,"percentile":0.06619,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
