{"cve":"CVE-2026-96641","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-21T21:20:32.500","modified":"2026-10-22T16:46:48.920","status":"Undergoing Analysis","description":"Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, PILfont text-width accumulation in src/_imaging.c checks positive glyph advances against INT_MAX but does not check negative advances against INT_MIN. Repeating a signed 16-bit advance of -32768 can therefore execute a signed C integer overflow in xsize += dx, producing a large positive width from a negative mathematical result. Applications that use getlength(), getsize(), or derived layout, quota, serialization, or allocation calculations can experience logic-integrity errors or resource consumption, while the high-level mask path commonly retains a decompression-bomb check. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-190"],"references":["https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/commit/80de4be9e38d3a6148dd4d8491eb80cd12b760a4","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/pull/10010","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/releases/tag/13.0.0","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/security/advisories/GHSA-4rm8-3hmm-39fg"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:28.036610720+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-96641","score":0.0035,"percentile":0.28374,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4rm8-3hmm-39fg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4rm8-3hmm-39fg","summary":"Pillow: Reachable undefined behavior in native integer operations, potentially leading to denial of service or logic integrity compromise","modified":"2026-10-22T16:15:47.147863485Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pillow","purl":"pkg:pypi/pillow","ranges":["<13.0.0"],"fixed":["13.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
