From 16.0.0 until 16.3.8, Image Optimization can follow attacker-controlled DNS resolution for a remote URL that matches images.remotePatterns, allowing the optimized image fetch to reach private IP addresses after the URL passes the allow-list check. Applications without images.remotePatterns are not affected. Administrators unable to upgrade should audit allow-listed hosts and avoid entries whose DNS records are not trusted. This issue is fixed in version 16.3.8.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/vercel/next.js/commit/e002ad68bd676bb0ed0c87bb22e3590304763e0b","https://github.com/vercel/next.js/releases/tag/v16.3.8","https://github.com/vercel/next.js/security/advisories/GHSA-cjq9-62q9-8jv4"],"products":["vercel:next.js"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:57:46.668721662+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-94483","score":0.0033,"percentile":0.25892,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cjq9-62q9-8jv4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cjq9-62q9-8jv4","summary":"Next.js has Server-Side Request Forgery in Image Optimization","modified":"2026-10-07T20:45:06.190363835Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"next","purl":"pkg:npm/next","ranges":[">=16.0.0 <16.3.8"],"fixed":["16.3.8"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
