{"cve":"CVE-2026-92553","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-16T07:17:14.150","modified":"2026-10-16T15:17:35.653","status":"Deferred","description":"The YaySMTP – WP Mail SMTP with Email Logs, Tracking & Reports plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Upload in all versions up to, and including, 2.7.7 via the putFile function. This is due to insufficient file type validation in the putFile function, as sanitize_file_name() does not strip executable extensions and no allow-list, MIME check, or safe-extension rename is applied. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to upload files that may be executable, which makes remote code execution possible. The only server-side guard is a .htaccess file containing 'Require all denied' written by writeGuards(), which is silently ignored by nginx and by Apache configured with AllowOverride None, meaning RCE is fully achievable on those server configurations.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-434"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/yaysmtp/tags/2.7.7/includes/Helper/EmailLogAttachments.php#L106","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/yaysmtp/tags/2.7.7/includes/Helper/EmailLogAttachments.php#L178","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/yaysmtp/tags/2.7.7/includes/Helper/EmailLogAttachments.php#L542","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/yaysmtp/tags/2.7.7/includes/Helper/EmailLogAttachments.php#L549","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/yaysmtp/tags/2.7.7/includes/Helper/Utils.php#L814"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T23:00:53.604569364+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-92553","score":0.00559,"percentile":0.46255,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
