{"cve":"CVE-2026-89895","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-16T11:16:58.270","modified":"2026-10-19T09:18:34.707","status":"Received","description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nmedia: cobalt: Avoid freeing ALSA private data twice\n\nsnd_cobalt_card_create() stores cobsc in sc->private_data and installs\nsnd_cobalt_card_private_free() as sc->private_free. From that point,\nsnd_card_free(sc) releases cobsc through the ALSA card cleanup path.\n\nIf cobalt_alsa_init() fails after snd_cobalt_card_create(), the\nerr_exit_free path calls snd_card_free(sc) and then kfree(cobsc). That\nsecond free releases the same object again.\n\nRemove the explicit kfree(cobsc) and leave ownership with the ALSA card.\n\nThis issue was found by a static analysis checker and confirmed by\nmanual source review.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3a7d6b9c4cb5ac18cbd3f1c7f8c7b159c42ba0b1","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/42e00371f83c3fc7b99a36bf0229c74ad5d3c7d8","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/61dfa8ded5efc3a25d331fa9ce5cebb85531fe70","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6cbc8a73b3464ebeccc49987b7233b6b087b8504","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/75bbf45e3a954e292ae26832d2df40ca2e3ee452"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-89895","score":0.00216,"percentile":0.11978,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
