The only check\nis against the number of USB PD ports which the embedded controller\nalso defines. A malicious embedded controller could return an inaccurate\nport count (up to 255) resulting in an out of bounds write and\nsubsequent memory corruption.\n\nUpdate helper functions in cros_usbpd-charger to limit port counts to\nEC_USB_PD_MAX_PORTS.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.4},"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/304a29ac55ba3ee6eceaf7d83d09cd9709f3bf60","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3262977a05b23d1be9fc86727a2b490ec997543e","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3ce9218639ff62d011eb8aca0943aa670a654c7b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4b1f2be1e1b74a50386ba718de3d62bfcf5ee701","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/657cd3a42e937276262c0a8ae6b01a87004309de"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:53:43.293028046+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-89470","score":0.00142,"percentile":0.03443,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
