{"cve":"CVE-2026-89257","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-11T12:16:56.160","modified":"2026-09-15T17:17:35.743","status":"Deferred","description":"AVideo through 29.0 contains an insecure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerability in objects/categoryDeleteAssets.json.php. The endpoint validates only the Category::canCreateCategory() capability and a CSRF nonce before passing the attacker-supplied $_REQUEST['id'] to Category::deleteAssets(), which recursively removes {systemRootPath}videos/categories/assets/{id}/. It omits the Category::userCanEditCategory() ownership check enforced by the sibling Category::delete(). On installations where the non-default usersCanCreateNewCategories setting is enabled, an authenticated non-admin user with the canUpload capability can send a POST request with an arbitrary category ID and recursively delete any category's on-disk asset directory (icons/images). Category records and videos are not deleted. As of the advisory publication no patched version was available.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-639"],"references":["https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-gf2v-r8wx-ghqj","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/avideo-through-29.0-cross-user-category-asset-deletion-via-missing-ownership-check","https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-gf2v-r8wx-ghqj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:52:53.108888569+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-89257","score":0.00298,"percentile":0.22567,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
