{"cve":"CVE-2026-8896","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-24T07:16:28.660","modified":"2026-06-30T05:20:12.507","status":"Deferred","description":"The MIR blocks and shortcodes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'title' attribute (and other attributes such as 'ready_animation_text') of the 'msc_stats' shortcode in versions up to, and including, 1.0.0. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied shortcode attributes inside the msc_stats() rendering function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.4},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mir-blocks-and-shortcodes/trunk/frontend-templates/function/msc-stats.php#L22","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/mir-blocks-and-shortcodes/trunk/frontend-templates/function/msc-stats.php#L44","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/d7d698be-fae6-4960-912a-1078ea407031?source=cve"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-8896","score":0.00321,"percentile":0.25103,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
