{"cve":"CVE-2026-8813","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-19T07:16:30.193","modified":"2026-07-23T20:10:00.130","status":"Deferred","description":"This affects versions of the package exifreader before 4.39.0. A crafted image containing an ICC mluc tag can set an attacker-controlled record count together with a zero record size. During parsing, ExifReader repeatedly processes the same record and appends entries to an array without sufficient bounds validation, causing excessive memory growth. In applications that parse attacker-supplied images, this may lead to denial of service through memory exhaustion.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":7.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-1284"],"references":["https://gist.github.com/yuki-matsuhashi/3243ea38e5fbf8cfe19b624f04c9f4b4","https://github.com/mattiasw/ExifReader/commit/c9d88b67e127b2dcc7b46e328df468257fb2dc30","https://security.snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-JS-EXIFREADER-16689335","https://security.snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-JS-EXIFREADER-16689335"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:35:16.954578616+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-8813","score":0.00522,"percentile":0.44302,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-h64w-w9pr-82m4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-h64w-w9pr-82m4","summary":"ExifReader is vulnerable to denial of service via crafted ICC `mluc` tag","modified":"2026-07-17T17:00:52.076721049Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"exifreader","purl":"pkg:npm/exifreader","ranges":[">=2.10.0 <4.39.0"],"fixed":["4.39.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
