{"cve":"CVE-2026-88003","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-25T22:18:49.580","modified":"2026-09-28T15:07:51.540","status":"Deferred","description":"InvoicePlane is a self-hosted open source application for managing invoices, clients, and payments. Prior to 1.7.2, InvoicePlane fails to revoke administrative privileges after a role downgrade because Admin_Controller trusts the user_type snapshot stored in an existing session instead of revalidating ip_users.user_type. When one administrator downgrades another account, the target's active session continues to authorize administrative requests. The downgraded user can use Users::form() to set user_type back to 1, restoring the database role and making the privilege escalation persistent. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.2.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.5},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane/commit/904847f4e87b66fd6743cf9cc6f88b66c7fc3b81","https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane/commit/daa49ce3a50e0c93e01459b69c0d61bfc23d23eb","https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane/releases/tag/v1.7.2","https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane/security/advisories/GHSA-25xj-pj36-wpp8","https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane/security/advisories/GHSA-25xj-pj36-wpp8"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-88003","score":0.00378,"percentile":0.31753,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
