{"cve":"CVE-2026-86597","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-08T09:18:21.877","modified":"2026-09-10T16:18:03.167","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Insertion of sensitive information into log files in the Snowflake Python, Go, JDBC, Node.js, PHP PDO, and ODBC drivers allowed authentication tokens, query-result encryption keys, pre-signed cloud-storage URLs, and SAML assertions to be written to diagnostic logs in circumstances where the available log redaction did not cover all affected log paths and data types. An attacker with read access to the log destination, whether the local filesystem, a log aggregation service, or a CI/CD artifact store, could obtain credentials and decryption keys that, if still valid at the time of access, could be used to authenticate to the corresponding Snowflake account or cloud-storage object. Successful exploitation requires read access to the log destination, and impact is bounded by credential lifetime and object scope. The fix is available in Snowflake Connector for Python v4.7.3, Snowflake Go Driver v2.2.0, Snowflake JDBC Driver v4.3.4 (including the snowflake-jdbc-fips and snowflake-jdbc-thin), Snowflake Node.js Driver v3.3.0, Snowflake PHP PDO Driver v4.2.0, and Snowflake ODBC Driver v3.20.0. Users must manually upgrade and should securely delete previously generated diagnostic logs containing sensitive information where retention is not required.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://docs.snowflake.com/en/release-notes/clients-drivers/golang-2026#version-220-sep-03-2026","https://docs.snowflake.com/en/release-notes/clients-drivers/jdbc-2026#version-434-sep-03-2026","https://docs.snowflake.com/en/release-notes/clients-drivers/nodejs-2026#version-330-september-3-2026","https://docs.snowflake.com/en/release-notes/clients-drivers/odbc-2026#version-3200-sep-3-2026","https://docs.snowflake.com/en/release-notes/clients-drivers/php-pdo-2026#version-420-sep-3-2026"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:52:03.409947763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-86597","score":0.00089,"percentile":0.00389,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qqj6-54q6-cxv6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qqj6-54q6-cxv6","summary":"Snowflake drivers writes sensitive information to logs","modified":"2026-10-15T14:55:36.220385453Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"snowflake-sdk","purl":"pkg:npm/snowflake-sdk","ranges":["<3.3.0"],"fixed":["3.3.0"]},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"snowflake-connector-python","purl":"pkg:pypi/snowflake-connector-python","ranges":["<4.7.3"],"fixed":["4.7.3"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake","ranges":["<=1.19.1"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"net.snowflake:snowflake-jdbc","purl":"pkg:maven/net.snowflake/snowflake-jdbc","ranges":["<4.3.4"],"fixed":["4.3.4"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"net.snowflake:snowflake-jdbc-thin","purl":"pkg:maven/net.snowflake/snowflake-jdbc-thin","ranges":["<4.3.4"],"fixed":["4.3.4"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"net.snowflake:snowflake-jdbc-fips","purl":"pkg:maven/net.snowflake/snowflake-jdbc-fips","ranges":["<4.3.4"],"fixed":["4.3.4"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake/v2","ranges":["<2.2.0"],"fixed":["2.2.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-6665","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-6665","summary":"Snowflake Go Driver writes sensitive information to logs in github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake","modified":"2026-10-15T14:55:36.220385453Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/snowflakedb/gosnowflake/v2","ranges":["<2.2.0"],"fixed":["2.2.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-4301","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-4301","summary":"Snowflake drivers writes sensitive information to logs","modified":"2026-10-15T14:55:36.220385453Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"snowflake-connector-python","purl":"pkg:pypi/snowflake-connector-python","ranges":["<4.7.3"],"fixed":["4.7.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
