{"cve":"CVE-2026-84269","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-01T16:17:37.690","modified":"2026-09-04T03:17:43.110","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"A flaw was found in the AFP backend in gvfs. When mounting a share, a malicious AFP server can cause the DSI read path to process a length that exceeds the size requested by the client. The function does not verify the server-provided length against the pre-sized reply buffer, causing the operation to access past the intended boundaries. This issue allows a malicious server to overflow a heap buffer and crash the gvfsd-afp process, resulting in a denial of service.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-122"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-84269","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2526784","https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/863","https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/863"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:50.842544443+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-84269","score":0.00452,"percentile":0.39277,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
