{"cve":"CVE-2026-82854","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-31T09:17:05.463","modified":"2026-10-08T16:17:51.040","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Nodemailer before 8.0.4 is vulnerable to SMTP command injection through the unsanitized envelope.size parameter. When an application passes a custom envelope object with a size property containing CRLF characters to sendMail(), the value is concatenated into the SMTP MAIL FROM command (as SIZE=...) without sanitization, allowing injection of arbitrary SMTP commands such as RCPT TO to silently add attacker-controlled recipients. Exploitation requires the application to expose the envelope size to attacker-controlled input, as Nodemailer does not include size in the default auto-constructed envelope.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-93"],"references":["https://github.com/nodemailer/nodemailer/security/advisories/GHSA-c7w3-x93f-qmm8","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/nodemailer-before-8.0.3-smtp-command-injection-via-envelope-size"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:50.842544443+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-82854","score":0.01975,"percentile":0.80353,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-c7w3-x93f-qmm8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-c7w3-x93f-qmm8","summary":"Nodemailer has SMTP command injection due to unsanitized `envelope.size` parameter","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:38.497772249Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"nodemailer","purl":"pkg:npm/nodemailer","ranges":["<8.0.4"],"fixed":["8.0.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
