Prior to version 0.8.6, the built-in social login providers accept an OAuth callback even when the `state` value is absent on both sides, so the anti-CSRF check passes for a callback that never came from a genuine login attempt. This defeats the `state`-based CSRF protection under default usage. Version 0.8.6 has a patch.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-352","CWE-1275"],"references":["https://github.com/honojs/middleware/commit/b37765f40b7bddb1d8fce39573b085222dea58c1","https://github.com/honojs/middleware/pull/2040","https://github.com/honojs/middleware/releases/tag/%40hono%2Foauth-providers%400.8.6","https://github.com/honojs/middleware/security/advisories/GHSA-fm3f-ch8h-qw8q"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:50.842544443+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-81888","score":0.00191,"percentile":0.08846,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fm3f-ch8h-qw8q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fm3f-ch8h-qw8q","summary":"@hono/oauth-providers: OAuth state check fails open on omitted state, enabling login CSRF and forced account linking","modified":"2026-09-15T05:30:05.053019533Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@hono/oauth-providers","purl":"pkg:npm/%40hono/oauth-providers","ranges":["<0.8.6"],"fixed":["0.8.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
