{"cve":"CVE-2026-81883","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-22T16:18:03.200","modified":"2026-09-28T13:21:01.900","status":"Analyzed","description":"radare2 is a UNIX-like reverse engineering framework and command-line toolset. Prior to 6.2.0, radare2's Lua 5.3 bytecode function parser was vulnerable because the Lua 5.3 bytecode function parser read fixed function-metadata fields immediately after a function-name string without checking the remaining buffer length. The vulnerability is triggered by opening or inspecting a crafted Lua 5.3 bytecode file whose function-name string ends at the input-buffer boundary. The parser read two integers and three one-byte fields beyond the allocated input buffer. This can cause invalid parser results or process termination; no attacker-observable memory disclosure has been demonstrated. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":3.3},"cwes":["CWE-125"],"references":["https://github.com/radareorg/radare2/commit/26c2eac360033458e9d266e5e30667d1f8d642e3","https://github.com/radareorg/radare2/issues/26228","https://github.com/radareorg/radare2/releases/tag/6.2.0","https://github.com/radareorg/radare2/security/advisories/GHSA-96m5-hvwp-674c","https://github.com/radareorg/radare2/issues/26228"],"products":["radare:radare2"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:02.509636177+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-81883","score":0.00157,"percentile":0.0482,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
