{"cve":"CVE-2026-81176","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-16T19:17:43.437","modified":"2026-09-30T17:51:56.193","status":"Deferred","description":"Svelte devalue is a JavaScript library that serializes values into strings when JSON.stringify isn't sufficient for the job. Prior to 5.9.2, devalue.parse does not reject out-of-bounds indices that are greater than or equal to values.length in src/parse.js. A specially crafted untrusted payload can make the parser alternate between array representations, producing quadratic work as the payload grows and causing denial of service in applications that parse untrusted devalue data. This issue is fixed in version 5.9.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/sveltejs/devalue/commit/8b2a4562c446d7c36d9d629778079a5fae4243e1","https://github.com/sveltejs/devalue/releases/tag/v5.9.2","https://github.com/sveltejs/devalue/security/advisories/GHSA-9rgm-9g3h-6x36"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-81176","score":0.00507,"percentile":0.42956,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9rgm-9g3h-6x36","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9rgm-9g3h-6x36","summary":"Svelte devalue: DoS via malformed input","modified":"2026-09-17T20:45:04.992155900Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"devalue","purl":"pkg:npm/devalue","ranges":["<5.9.2"],"fixed":["5.9.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
