{"cve":"CVE-2026-79748","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-31T18:17:20.340","modified":"2026-09-08T21:08:37.320","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"MCPHub is a unified hub for centrally managing and dynamically orchestrating multiple MCP servers/APIs into separate endpoints with flexible routing strategies. Prior to version 0.12.15, the POST /api/servers and PUT /api/servers/:name endpoints in MCPHub create/update MCP server configurations and then immediately spawn the configured stdio process via child_process.spawn. Authentication is required, but there is no authorization check restricting these endpoints to admins, and there is no allowlist/sanitization on the command and args fields. As a result, any authenticated non-admin user can submit a server configuration with command:\"/bin/sh\" (or any other binary) and arbitrary args, causing MCPHub to execute the attacker-controlled process as the MCPHub server's OS user (commonly root in the published Docker image and in npx/systemd deployments). This issue has been patched in version 0.12.15.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.9},"cwes":["CWE-862"],"references":["https://github.com/samanhappy/mcphub/pull/770","https://github.com/samanhappy/mcphub/releases/tag/v0.12.15","https://github.com/samanhappy/mcphub/security/advisories/GHSA-mx89-jjx9-gjr8","https://github.com/samanhappy/mcphub/security/advisories/GHSA-mx89-jjx9-gjr8"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:50.842544443+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-79748","score":0.00635,"percentile":0.50459,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
