A remote unauthenticated client could send many distinct but matching Accept header variants to make the cache grow unbounded, eventually exhausting the Node.js heap and crashing the process. Versions <= 6.0.3 are affected. Update to 6.0.4 or later, which bounds the cache via an LRU with a default size of 100 entries, configurable through the new cacheSize plugin option.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://cna.openjsf.org/security-advisories.html","https://github.com/fastify/fastify-accepts-serializer/security/advisories/GHSA-qxhc-wx3p-2wmg"],"products":["fastify:fastify\\/accepts-serializer"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:09.003606135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-7768","score":0.00284,"percentile":0.20997,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qxhc-wx3p-2wmg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qxhc-wx3p-2wmg","summary":"@fastify/accepts-serializer Vulnerable to Denial of Service via Unbounded Accept Header Cache Growth","modified":"2026-05-08T17:41:26.391342Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@fastify/accepts-serializer","purl":"pkg:npm/%40fastify/accepts-serializer","ranges":["<6.0.4"],"fixed":["6.0.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
