{"cve":"CVE-2026-77524","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-14T17:19:11.147","modified":"2026-10-20T02:17:11.973","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"KEDA is a Kubernetes-based Event Driven Autoscaling component. In version 2.20.2 and earlier, a namespace administrator who can create TriggerAuthentication and ScaledObject resources can set hashiCorpVault.address to a tenant-controlled endpoint and select Kubernetes authentication without an explicit credential. KEDA then uses the operator pod's projected ServiceAccount token and sends it to that endpoint as a Vault login credential. The JWT-shape filter from the prior CVE-2025-68476 remediation accepts the operator token because its subject is a Kubernetes ServiceAccount, so the attacker can obtain the operator's cluster-wide permissions, including broad Secret reads and workload or admission-related operations. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.21.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.9},"cwes":["CWE-269","CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/kedacore/keda/commit/1e21cc798dedd079e696cdb45388eddc5e18365d","https://github.com/kedacore/keda/releases/tag/v2.21.0","https://github.com/kedacore/keda/security/advisories/GHSA-637c-6jxx-4rwm"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:56:58.798400159+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-77524","score":0.00527,"percentile":0.44333,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-637c-6jxx-4rwm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-637c-6jxx-4rwm","summary":"KEDA: Privilege escalation from namespace admin to cluster admin via KEDA TriggerAuthentication","modified":"2026-10-19T21:40:44.489356801Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kedacore/keda","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kedacore/keda","ranges":["<=1.5.0"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kedacore/keda/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kedacore/keda/v2","ranges":["<2.21.0"],"fixed":["2.21.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-6776","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-6776","summary":"KEDA: Privilege escalation from namespace admin to cluster admin via KEDA TriggerAuthentication in github.com/kedacore/keda","modified":"2026-10-19T21:31:49.973645562Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kedacore/keda","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kedacore/keda","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kedacore/keda/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kedacore/keda/v2","ranges":["<2.21.0"],"fixed":["2.21.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
