{"cve":"CVE-2026-77364","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-12T18:17:23.677","modified":"2026-10-16T16:00:33.533","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"obsidian-tc is a governed, agent-ready Model Context Protocol server for Obsidian vaults. Prior to 1.3.1, undefined readPaths and writePaths settings allow all paths, strictReadDefault does not protect direct requests, and the .obsidian, .git, and .trash control directories are excluded only during enumeration. An authenticated caller can directly read sensitive files such as .obsidian/plugins/*/data.json, potentially exposing plugin API keys, Obsidian Sync passwords, and other in-vault data. Version 1.3.1 fixes the vulnerability by denying the control directories by default and enforcing strictReadDefault on direct request paths.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-200","CWE-276"],"references":["https://github.com/The-40-Thieves/obsidian-tc/commit/74de320ddea855e1dec47d67beabe88491149dab","https://github.com/The-40-Thieves/obsidian-tc/pull/73","https://github.com/The-40-Thieves/obsidian-tc/releases/tag/v1.3.1","https://github.com/The-40-Thieves/obsidian-tc/security/advisories/GHSA-cvp8-vvgf-69q4"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:52.678897993+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-77364","score":0.00239,"percentile":0.14785,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cvp8-vvgf-69q4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cvp8-vvgf-69q4","summary":"obsidian-tc: Default folder ACL is fail-open; .obsidian plugin secrets are readable by default","modified":"2026-10-23T17:45:03.910674609Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"obsidian-tc","purl":"pkg:npm/obsidian-tc","ranges":["<1.3.1"],"fixed":["1.3.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
