{"cve":"CVE-2026-77301","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-18T17:17:00.507","modified":"2026-09-24T21:16:28.120","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"adm-zip is a JavaScript library for creating and extracting ZIP archives in Node.js. Prior to 0.6.1, getData() in zipEntry.js trusts an entry's central-directory uncompressed size and allocates output memory before validating that value against the actual compressed data and decompression result. A small crafted ZIP can declare a multi-gigabyte uncompressed size, causing Buffer.alloc and decompression handling to commit excessive resident memory before CRC validation reports an error. Applications that read entries from untrusted archives can therefore be terminated by the operating system or suffer service-wide memory exhaustion. This issue is fixed in version 0.6.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-789"],"references":["https://github.com/cthackers/adm-zip/commit/491600683dacb6cb9fe0718a0eeb9cb5eb49afa6","https://github.com/cthackers/adm-zip/releases/tag/v0.6.1","https://github.com/cthackers/adm-zip/security/advisories/GHSA-7q85-xj36-vmfc","https://github.com/cthackers/adm-zip/security/advisories/GHSA-7q85-xj36-vmfc"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:55:23.253742848+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-77301","score":0.00609,"percentile":0.49177,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7q85-xj36-vmfc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7q85-xj36-vmfc","summary":"adm-zip: Uncontrolled memory allocation via the declared uncompressed size (DoS)","modified":"2026-09-18T17:30:08.405220036Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"adm-zip","purl":"pkg:npm/adm-zip","ranges":["<0.6.1"],"fixed":["0.6.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
