{"cve":"CVE-2026-73569","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-13T18:18:19.803","modified":"2026-10-24T15:10:00.190","status":"Deferred","description":"fast-xml-parser allows users to process XML from JS object without C/C++ based libraries or callbacks. From 5.9.3 until 5.10.1, src/xmlparser/OrderedObjParser.js processes multiple DOCTYPE declarations within a single XML document and passes each declaration's entities through addInputEntities(). addInputEntities() resets maxTotalExpansions and maxExpandedLength every time it is called, allowing additional DOCTYPE declarations to repeatedly reset the configured entity-expansion limits during one parse operation. A crafted XML document can then cause excessive CPU use, event-loop blocking, memory exhaustion, and process termination. This issue is fixed in version 5.10.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-776"],"references":["https://github.com/NaturalIntelligence/fast-xml-parser/commit/4e546e03987662de5495d050b5fba26bea65383f","https://github.com/NaturalIntelligence/fast-xml-parser/releases/tag/v5.10.1","https://github.com/NaturalIntelligence/fast-xml-parser/security/advisories/GHSA-8r6m-32jq-jx6q"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:35.584907681+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-73569","score":0.00507,"percentile":0.42956,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8r6m-32jq-jx6q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8r6m-32jq-jx6q","summary":"fast-xml-parser: Repeated DOCTYPE declarations reset entity expansion limits","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:11.096045802Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"fast-xml-parser","purl":"pkg:npm/fast-xml-parser","ranges":[">=5.9.3 <5.10.1"],"fixed":["5.10.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
