{"cve":"CVE-2026-73429","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-12T21:17:41.750","modified":"2026-10-24T15:10:00.190","status":"Deferred","description":"Russh is a Rust SSH client & server library. Prior to 0.62.4, a malicious SSH server can crash a russh client session with a malformed KEX_ECDH_REPLY containing a server ephemeral value that is not 32 bytes long. The client-side Curve25519Kex::compute_shared_secret function in russh/src/kex/curve25519.rs passes the decoded exchange.server_ephemeral value to clone_from_slice without validating its length, causing a deterministic panic before the server host key is verified. The panic terminates the spawned client session task and surfaces as a JoinError, while the embedding process normally remains running. This issue is fixed in version 0.62.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-704","CWE-754"],"references":["https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/commit/a7fc1eb5717264e31c3c5f7dd849b73989a08f3d","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/releases/tag/v0.62.4","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/security/advisories/GHSA-g9hv-x236-4qp3","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/security/advisories/GHSA-g9hv-x236-4qp3"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:35.584907681+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-73429","score":0.00507,"percentile":0.42956,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g9hv-x236-4qp3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g9hv-x236-4qp3","summary":"Russh: client wrong-length X25519 `clone_from_slice` panic (pre-auth DoS)","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:52.133373647Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"russh","purl":"pkg:cargo/russh","ranges":["<0.62.4"],"fixed":["0.62.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
