{"cve":"CVE-2026-73415","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-12T20:17:56.660","modified":"2026-09-09T20:58:37.713","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"jupyterlab is an extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook Architecture. Prior to 4.5.10 and 4.6.2, in packages/imageviewer/src/widget.ts, JupyterLab's ImageViewer uses URL.createObjectURL for a specially crafted SVG image and revokes the blob URL too early, allowing the image to retain an executable same-origin context when it is opened through the image viewer and then opened in a new browser tab. The resulting cross-site scripting can be used to execute arbitrary code on the JupyterLab server. This issue is fixed in versions 4.5.10 and 4.6.2.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.5},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/commit/9365f020baec5221deaf11535ed554c06637c999","https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/commit/be9303f5bcd5308eaeae953c5a3c903046682c2c","https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/commit/f1beab4a2027af4719d6edc07d52d6cf5a39a432","https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/pull/19184","https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/pull/19185"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:48:17.459049833+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-73415","score":0.00737,"percentile":0.54511,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-gx64-gj6p-pc4c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-gx64-gj6p-pc4c","summary":"JupyterLab: Image viewer allows XSS when opening malicious image in new browser tab","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:52.238121345Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"jupyterlab","purl":"pkg:pypi/jupyterlab","ranges":[">=4.6.0 <4.6.2"],"fixed":["4.6.2"]},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"jupyterlab","purl":"pkg:pypi/jupyterlab","ranges":["<4.5.10"],"fixed":["4.5.10"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3671","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3671","summary":"JupyterLab: Image viewer allows XSS when opening malicious image in new browser tab","modified":"2026-08-19T12:55:38.161986612Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"jupyterlab","purl":"pkg:pypi/jupyterlab","ranges":["<4.5.10",">=4.6.0 <4.6.2"],"fixed":["4.5.10","4.6.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
