Prior to 3.39.24, POST /api/public/v1/roles/assign called validateGlobalRoleUpdate without checking appBuilder.appId or role.appId in packages/server/src/api/controllers/public/globalRoleValidation.ts. An app-scoped builder could scope the request to an app they control and then grant themselves builder access or an arbitrary role in another app, exposing that app data, datasource configuration, and automations. This issue is fixed in version 3.39.24.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-269","CWE-862","CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/Budibase/budibase/commit/453391d3245dd04cc386ccd6959d38ccf30db9a8","https://github.com/Budibase/budibase/pull/19098","https://github.com/Budibase/budibase/releases/tag/3.39.24","https://github.com/Budibase/budibase/security/advisories/GHSA-j9fc-w3mr-x6mv","https://github.com/Budibase/budibase/security/advisories/GHSA-j9fc-w3mr-x6mv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:48:17.459049833+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-73305","score":0.00523,"percentile":0.44411,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-j9fc-w3mr-x6mv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-j9fc-w3mr-x6mv","summary":" Budibase: Privilege escalation via public role assignment API missing app-level authorization","modified":"2026-08-12T19:11:12.382278Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@budibase/server","purl":"pkg:npm/%40budibase/server","ranges":["<=3.38.1"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
