{"cve":"CVE-2026-73086","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-11T17:19:16.690","modified":"2026-10-24T15:10:00.190","status":"Deferred","description":"nanoid is a secure, URL-friendly, unique string ID generator for JavaScript. Prior to versions 3.3.12 and 5.1.11, the nanoid(size) function in index.js and index.cjs coerces the user-influenced size parameter to a signed 32-bit integer, allowing a value of 2147483648 to become -2147483648 and corrupt the process-wide CSPRNG poolOffset in fillPool(), which causes subsequent session tokens, CSRF tokens, API keys, and unique identifiers to become the deterministic string \"uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu\" until the process restarts. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.12 and 5.1.11.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-190"],"references":["https://github.com/ai/nanoid/commit/7087969281cab8ba8ae3babf1894e819068b3bb4","https://github.com/ai/nanoid/commit/821dfed7b5db7f88e92f56c60eef32c8135077c3","https://github.com/ai/nanoid/commit/b0036ed60dc9facd7f1191a50dfb3076500202ac","https://github.com/ai/nanoid/releases/tag/3.3.12","https://github.com/ai/nanoid/releases/tag/5.1.11"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:35.584907681+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-73086","score":0.00296,"percentile":0.22095,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xwg4-73v4-xw9w","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xwg4-73v4-xw9w","summary":"nanoid: Integer Overflow or Wraparound","modified":"2026-09-01T19:30:08.615560716Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"nanoid","purl":"pkg:npm/nanoid","ranges":["<3.3.12"],"fixed":["3.3.12"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"nanoid","purl":"pkg:npm/nanoid","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <5.1.11"],"fixed":["5.1.11"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
