A crafted search pattern can bypass the base-directory confinement check and expand to locations outside the configured directory, causing the tool to return the names and contents of arbitrary local files readable by the daemon's OS user. Any deployment where an actor can influence the tool's search input is affected.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N","score":4.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.7},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-pf2q-pxhf-hgmw","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/n8n-before-path-traversal-via-computer-use-search-files"],"products":["n8n:n8n"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-72773","score":0.00568,"percentile":0.4679,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pf2q-pxhf-hgmw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pf2q-pxhf-hgmw","summary":"n8n: Path-Confinement Bypass in computer-use search_files Allows Reading Files Outside the Base Directory","modified":"2026-08-12T04:26:19.649966415Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.32.0 <2.32.1"],"fixed":["2.32.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":["<2.31.5"],"fixed":["2.31.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
