{"cve":"CVE-2026-72772","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-11T13:19:07.623","modified":"2026-10-24T15:10:00.190","status":"Analyzed","description":"n8n before 2.32.1 (and before 2.31.5) is vulnerable to account takeover via the Token Exchange Embed Login feature. When a validly-signed incoming token was matched to a local account by its email claim, the service did not verify that the email claim was verified, nor that the trusted key's permitted role ceiling covered that account. As a result, anyone able to obtain a token accepted by a configured trusted key (for example, a trusted issuer emitting unverified email addresses) could authenticate as any existing user and gain full account control. This issue only affects instances where the embed login feature is enabled and at least one trusted key source is configured.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:L","score":8.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-640"],"references":["https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-8342-988q-86cr","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/n8n-before-authentication-bypass-via-token-exchange"],"products":["n8n:n8n"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-72772","score":0.00447,"percentile":0.38634,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8342-988q-86cr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8342-988q-86cr","summary":"n8n: Account Takeover via Unverified Email Claim in Token Exchange Embed Login","modified":"2026-08-12T04:26:13.268951164Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.32.0 <2.32.1"],"fixed":["2.32.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":["<2.31.5"],"fixed":["2.31.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
