The node assigns output fields via a dot-notation path setter without restricting the field name, allowing an authenticated user to name a field after an inherited built-in method path and corrupt a shared global in the main Node.js process. Because that global is used on the request-authentication path, the instance then fails every authenticated request, causing an instance-wide denial of service for all users until the process is restarted.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.1},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-1321"],"references":["https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-xwx6-jjhv-84p8","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/n8n-before-prototype-pollution-via-edit-fields"],"products":["n8n:n8n"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-72749","score":0.00573,"percentile":0.47065,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xwx6-jjhv-84p8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xwx6-jjhv-84p8","summary":"n8n: Prototype Pollution via Dot-Notation Field Names Leads To Instance-Wide Denial of Service","modified":"2026-08-12T04:26:16.579407624Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":["<1.123.67"],"fixed":["1.123.67"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.32.0 <2.32.1"],"fixed":["2.32.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.0.0-rc.0 <2.31.5"],"fixed":["2.31.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
