Prior to 1.20.17, copyparty volumes with the dk or dks directory-key flag combined with the fk or fka file-key flag can convert a valid file key into a directory key, granting read access to the containing folder. This vulnerability was only reachable if both types of keys (filekeys and dirkeys) were manually enabled in the volume flags simultaneously. This issue is fixed in version 1.20.17.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/9001/copyparty/commit/e40755331ba9449993ff482456e6bdd2c6deb950","https://github.com/9001/copyparty/releases/tag/v1.20.17","https://github.com/9001/copyparty/security/advisories/GHSA-x5pq-m9p8-f4vx"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-70657","score":0.00331,"percentile":0.26033,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x5pq-m9p8-f4vx","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x5pq-m9p8-f4vx","summary":"Copyparty vulnerable to file/dirkey confusion","modified":"2026-08-19T12:55:59.077094363Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"copyparty","purl":"pkg:pypi/copyparty","ranges":["<1.20.17"],"fixed":["1.20.17"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3660","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3660","summary":"Copyparty vulnerable to file/dirkey confusion","modified":"2026-08-19T12:45:05.493042499Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"copyparty","purl":"pkg:pypi/copyparty","ranges":["<1.20.17"],"fixed":["1.20.17"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
