{"cve":"CVE-2026-70606","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-05T16:17:04.953","modified":"2026-10-08T13:53:45.907","status":"Analyzed","description":"Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 40.10.6, 41.9.1, 42.5.1, and 43.0.0, when a custom protocol handler returned a ProtocolResponse with a url and no session, Electron made the upstream request through defaultSession instead of the session that handled the protocol. A cached response could then be reused across otherwise isolated session partitions. Apps that use ProtocolResponse.url, omit ProtocolResponse.session, and rely on separate sessions to isolate content are affected. This issue is fixed in versions 40.10.6, 41.9.1, 42.5.1, and 43.0.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-668"],"references":["https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-r4w5-6pfg-jxp5"],"products":["electronjs:electron"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:10.050265369+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-70606","score":0.00255,"percentile":0.16881,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r4w5-6pfg-jxp5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r4w5-6pfg-jxp5","summary":"Electron: ProtocolResponse.url reuses the default session cache instead of the registering session","modified":"2026-08-05T16:26:04.488442Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=43.0.0-alpha.1 <43.0.0"],"fixed":["43.0.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=42.0.0-alpha.1 <42.5.1"],"fixed":["42.5.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=41.0.0-alpha.1 <41.9.1"],"fixed":["41.9.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=40.0.0-alpha.1 <40.10.6"],"fixed":["40.10.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
