{"cve":"CVE-2026-70605","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-05T16:17:04.800","modified":"2026-10-08T13:53:48.053","status":"Analyzed","description":"Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, when following HTTP redirects, net.fetch() and net.request() did not restrict which schemes a redirect could target. A remote server could redirect a request to a local resource, and if the app returns or forwards the response body, local file contents could be disclosed. Apps are only affected if they make net requests to attacker-influenced URLs with redirects followed and expose the response body. This issue is fixed in versions 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-v64r-4m7r-3mvq"],"products":["electronjs:electron"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:10.050265369+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-70605","score":0.00315,"percentile":0.24161,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v64r-4m7r-3mvq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v64r-4m7r-3mvq","summary":"Electron: HTTP redirect followed into local file loader","modified":"2026-08-05T16:26:04.559668Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":["<39.8.8"],"fixed":["39.8.8"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=40.0.0-alpha.1 <40.9.1"],"fixed":["40.9.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=41.0.0-alpha.1 <41.2.1"],"fixed":["41.2.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=42.0.0-alpha.1 <42.0.0-beta.3"],"fixed":["42.0.0-beta.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
