{"cve":"CVE-2026-70602","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-05T16:17:04.333","modified":"2026-10-08T13:54:05.900","status":"Analyzed","description":"Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, extension tab and scripting APIs were not scoped to the extension's own session. A malicious or compromised extension loaded into one session could navigate, script, and read from windows belonging to a different session. Apps are only affected if they load Chrome extensions via session.loadExtension and rely on separate sessions to isolate that extension from other content. This issue is fixed in versions 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":6.6},"cwes":["CWE-284"],"references":["https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-m55f-7gqj-fr98"],"products":["electronjs:electron"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:10.050265369+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-70602","score":0.00256,"percentile":0.17131,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m55f-7gqj-fr98","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m55f-7gqj-fr98","summary":"Electron: Extension tab APIs operate across session boundaries","modified":"2026-08-05T16:11:06.809031Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":["<39.8.8"],"fixed":["39.8.8"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=40.0.0-alpha.1 <40.9.0"],"fixed":["40.9.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=41.0.0-alpha.1 <41.2.1"],"fixed":["41.2.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=42.0.0-alpha.1 <42.0.0-beta.3"],"fixed":["42.0.0-beta.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
