Prior to 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3, the native autofill popup could be positioned by a cross-origin iframe outside that iframe's bounds, over the embedding page's UI, enabling clickjacking or spoofing of trusted UI. Apps are only affected if they embed untrusted content in iframes within windows that also display trusted UI. Apps that do not embed untrusted third-party content are not affected. This issue is fixed in versions 39.8.8, 40.9.0, 41.2.1, and 42.0.0-beta.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-1021"],"references":["https://github.com/electron/electron/security/advisories/GHSA-x8rc-wpg4-grpf"],"products":["electronjs:electron"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:10.050265369+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-70600","score":0.00179,"percentile":0.07369,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x8rc-wpg4-grpf","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x8rc-wpg4-grpf","summary":"Electron: Cross-origin iframe can position native autofill popup","modified":"2026-08-05T15:56:01.334672Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":["<39.8.8"],"fixed":["39.8.8"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=40.0.0-alpha.1 <40.9.1"],"fixed":["40.9.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=41.0.0-alpha.1 <41.2.1"],"fixed":["41.2.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"electron","purl":"pkg:npm/electron","ranges":[">=42.0.0-alpha.1 <42.0.0-beta.3"],"fixed":["42.0.0-beta.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
