{"cve":"CVE-2026-6859","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-22T14:17:07.687","modified":"2026-10-26T21:10:00.170","status":"Modified","description":"A flaw was found in InstructLab. The `linux_train.py` script hardcodes `trust_remote_code=True` when loading models from HuggingFace. This allows a remote attacker to achieve arbitrary Python code execution by convincing a user to run `ilab train/download/generate` with a specially crafted malicious model from the HuggingFace Hub. This vulnerability can lead to complete system compromise.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-829"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-6859","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2459998","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-6859","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2459998","https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-6859.json"],"products":["redhat:enterprise_linux_ai","redhat:instructlab"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T21:38:48.864438205+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-6859","score":0.00441,"percentile":0.38065,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rxpq-xgqx-fr7p","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rxpq-xgqx-fr7p","summary":"InstructLab Includes Functionality from Untrusted Control Sphere","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:19.089484180Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"instructlab","purl":"pkg:pypi/instructlab","ranges":["<=0.26.1"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2522","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2522","summary":"InstructLab Includes Functionality from Untrusted Control Sphere","modified":"2026-07-13T16:31:57.966567895Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"instructlab","purl":"pkg:pypi/instructlab","ranges":["<=0.26.1"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
