{"cve":"CVE-2026-67306","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-01T13:17:00.250","modified":"2026-09-08T14:00:06.373","status":"Analyzed","description":"FreeRDP versions 3.28.0 and earlier contain an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the RDP6 planar RLE bitmap decoder functions planar_decompress_plane_rle and planar_decompress_plane_rle_only in libfreerdp/codec/planar.c. Only the 1-byte control byte is bounds-checked; the subsequent 0–15 attacker-declared raw bytes are read without validating that the source buffer contains them. A malicious or compromised RDP server can send a truncated planar-encoded bitmap or surface update (reachable via both the Bitmap Update PDU and RDPGFX Surface Command paths) that causes the client to read past the end of the source buffer. The issue is fixed in FreeRDP 3.29.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:L","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-125"],"references":["https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/commit/5370fb26fbf034ecd11d3026b6ad639b5fff493f","https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/security/advisories/GHSA-qrxx-7g3c-j6w3","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/freerdp-before-out-of-bounds-read-via-planar-rle","https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/security/advisories/GHSA-qrxx-7g3c-j6w3"],"products":["freerdp:freerdp"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:10.050265369+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-67306","score":0.00378,"percentile":0.31792,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
