When these functions are configured with a size of 0, the internal generation loop never satisfies its exit condition and spins indefinitely, hanging the calling thread. An application that passes an unvalidated, attacker-controlled size of 0 to these functions is exposed to a denial-of-service condition.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/ai/nanoid/commit/cb3626d0f3342fdf179cd425fd9c4fbb92c7d0e7","https://github.com/ai/nanoid/releases/tag/5.1.6","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/nanoid-before-infinite-loop-via-zero-size-in-customalphabet-and-customrandom"],"products":["nanoid_project:nanoid"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:27.712498749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-67213","score":0.00331,"percentile":0.26016,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-2v37-7h3g-55p8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-2v37-7h3g-55p8","summary":"nanoid: custom generators can loop indefinitely when size is zero","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:51.243328986Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"nanoid","purl":"pkg:npm/nanoid","ranges":["<3.3.18"],"fixed":["3.3.18"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"nanoid","purl":"pkg:npm/nanoid","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <5.1.6"],"fixed":["5.1.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
