{"cve":"CVE-2026-66909","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-06T11:16:30.583","modified":"2026-10-24T16:10:00.153","status":"Modified","description":"Apache CXF's JMS transport deserializes the body of any inbound JMS ObjectMessage using native Java deserialization, with no type restrictions in place. Any attacker able to place a message on the service's JMS destination can submit a malicious serialized object, leading to denial of service or, if a suitable gadget class is on the classpath, remote code execution. The fix disables ObjectMessage deserialization by default, with a configuration switch to re-enable it if needed. Users are recommended to upgrade to versions 4.2.3 or 4.1.8 or 3.6.12, which fix this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/lr5d4tg6tf7j29jmw8wt242oowonjqpx","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/08/06/18"],"products":["apache:cxf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-66909","score":0.01148,"percentile":0.66617,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
