{"cve":"CVE-2026-61848","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-30T19:18:28.707","modified":"2026-10-30T19:39:14.897","status":"Deferred","description":"Crass is a Ruby CSS parser that's fully compliant with the CSS Syntax Level 3 specification. Prior to 1.0.7, when Crass parses input containing `non-ASCII characters`, inefficiencies in tracking the positions of `multi-byte characters` result in superlinear parsing time. An attacker-controlled CSS input consisting of many `non-ASCII characters` can therefore cause excessive CPU consumption and potentially denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.7.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:L","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["http://github.com/rgrove/crass/commit/da29664648bf80a97a6439e030a4814291c9afa5","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/releases/tag/v1.0.7","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/security/advisories/GHSA-8vfg-2r28-hvhj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-30T20:09:38.731693953+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8vfg-2r28-hvhj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8vfg-2r28-hvhj","summary":"Crass: Non-ASCII characters cause superlinear CPU consumption","modified":"2026-10-29T16:45:04.487777722Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"crass","purl":"pkg:gem/crass","ranges":["<1.0.7"],"fixed":["1.0.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
