{"cve":"CVE-2026-61847","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-30T19:18:28.540","modified":"2026-10-30T19:39:14.897","status":"Deferred","description":"Crass is a Ruby CSS parser that's fully compliant with the CSS Syntax Level 3 specification. Prior to 1.0.7, when the `:preserve_comments` option is not enabled, which is the default, Crass discards CSS comments by recursively consuming the next token. An attacker-provided stylesheet containing a very large number of adjacent comments can cause excessive recursion and trigger a `SystemStackError`, denying service to the parsing application. Preserving comments avoids this recursive path. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.7.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:L","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-674"],"references":["https://github.com/rgrove/crass/commit/25d78cc607c54262e9d43ea1930f3ba5bb03dfb5","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/releases/tag/v1.0.7","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/security/advisories/GHSA-wwpr-jff3-395c"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-30T20:09:38.731693953+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-wwpr-jff3-395c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-wwpr-jff3-395c","summary":"Crass: A large number of adjacent CSS comments can trigger a SystemStackError","modified":"2026-10-29T16:45:06.064429996Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"crass","purl":"pkg:gem/crass","ranges":["<1.0.7"],"fixed":["1.0.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
