{"cve":"CVE-2026-61845","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-30T19:18:28.197","modified":"2026-10-30T20:17:11.263","status":"Deferred","description":"Crass is a Ruby CSS parser that's fully compliant with the CSS Syntax Level 3 specification. Prior to 1.0.7, Crass converts `CSS scientific notation` number values with unbounded exponentiation before clamping the result to `Float::MAX`. Applications that use Crass to parse attacker-controlled CSS strings can be forced to spend disproportionate CPU and memory parsing a tiny input, potentially resulting in a crash. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.7.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:H","score":8.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-789"],"references":["https://github.com/rgrove/crass/commit/ea6726b7f7cf7e85b23aa2240b8512b4f8d11ad9","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/releases/tag/v1.0.7","https://github.com/rgrove/crass/security/advisories/GHSA-6wmf-3r64-vcwv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-30T20:41:38.734504606+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-6wmf-3r64-vcwv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-6wmf-3r64-vcwv","summary":"Crass : Large numeric exponents cause CPU and memory denial of service","modified":"2026-10-20T14:45:03.938633122Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"crass","purl":"pkg:gem/crass","ranges":["<1.0.7"],"fixed":["1.0.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
