{"cve":"CVE-2026-61814","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-23T19:17:32.970","modified":"2026-09-30T17:32:07.107","status":"Deferred","description":"Jawn is an open source JSON parser. Prior to 1.7.0, Jawn's AsyncParser can perform quadratic work when a single JSON token is delivered across many small chunks because each absorb call rescans the incomplete token from the start. A remote attacker who controls untrusted JSON input and its chunk sizes can exhaust CPU resources and cause denial of service in applications using AsyncParser. This issue is fixed in version 1.7.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-407"],"references":["https://github.com/typelevel/jawn/commit/cddcd5e3387c356b05953f7b2af103d309687e4b","https://github.com/typelevel/jawn/releases/tag/v1.7.0","https://github.com/typelevel/jawn/security/advisories/GHSA-w4cm-gvhj-cgw6"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:02.509636177+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-61814","score":0.0075,"percentile":0.54679,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w4cm-gvhj-cgw6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w4cm-gvhj-cgw6","summary":"Jawn: Quadratic parsing effort in AsyncParser","modified":"2026-09-23T21:45:08.084551628Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.typelevel:jawn-parser_2.12","purl":"pkg:maven/org.typelevel/jawn-parser_2.12","ranges":["<1.7.0"],"fixed":["1.7.0"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.typelevel:jawn-parser_2.13","purl":"pkg:maven/org.typelevel/jawn-parser_2.13","ranges":["<1.7.0"],"fixed":["1.7.0"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.typelevel:jawn-parser_3","purl":"pkg:maven/org.typelevel/jawn-parser_3","ranges":["<1.7.0"],"fixed":["1.7.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
