{"cve":"CVE-2026-61704","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-20T17:18:51.940","modified":"2026-10-18T20:10:00.110","status":"Deferred","description":"Link Preview JS extracts web links information. Prior to 4.0.4, the resolveDNSHost mitigation in index.ts validates one resolved IP address but fetches the original hostname, allowing an attacker-controlled DNS server to return a public address during validation and a loopback or internal address during the final connection. This DNS rebinding condition bypasses the SSRF protection and can cause the server-side preview fetch to reach internal HTTP resources. Redirect handling is affected by the same validation-to-fetch mismatch. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/OP-Engineering/link-preview-js/commit/6ee25043dd60b097eb70b4ce049aac94b28239e3","https://github.com/OP-Engineering/link-preview-js/commit/f3a3dd84adbb9d32d06a933f44ff3eaa837f9a12","https://github.com/OP-Engineering/link-preview-js/pull/181","https://github.com/OP-Engineering/link-preview-js/releases/tag/4.0.4","https://github.com/OP-Engineering/link-preview-js/security/advisories/GHSA-cpjf-6666-r8fx"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:49:38.260478770+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-61704","score":0.0055,"percentile":0.45745,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cpjf-6666-r8fx","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cpjf-6666-r8fx","summary":"link-preview-js DNS Rebinding SSRF Bypass / Incomplete Fix for CVE-2026-43897","modified":"2026-09-02T21:45:09.841015611Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"link-preview-js","purl":"pkg:npm/link-preview-js","ranges":["<4.0.4"],"fixed":["4.0.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
