{"cve":"CVE-2026-61588","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-16T23:16:52.630","modified":"2026-09-24T21:25:27.050","status":"Deferred","description":"djust provides Phoenix LiveView-style reactive server-side rendering for Django with Rust-powered performance. Prior to version 1.0.7, when a Django `Model` instance is assigned to a public view attribute, djust serialized it to the client with no sensitive-field denylist — sending fields such as `password` (the hash), privilege flags (e.g. `is_staff` / `is_superuser`), tokens, and other PII to the browser. Because exposing model objects to templates is a normal djust pattern, this could leak credentials/PII without the developer realizing the full object crossed the wire. This is fixed in djust 1.0.7. Model serialization applies a secure-by-default sensitive-field denylist (password/hash/token/secret-style fields and known privilege flags are withheld) with an identity-subset fallback. As a workaround, keep `Model` instances on `_private` attributes and expose only the specific fields needed, until patched.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-200","CWE-359"],"references":["https://github.com/djust-org/djust/releases/tag/v1.0.7","https://github.com/djust-org/djust/security/advisories/GHSA-pvg3-6q9j-mj3x"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-61588","score":0.00386,"percentile":0.32652,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pvg3-6q9j-mj3x","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pvg3-6q9j-mj3x","summary":"djust's Django model serialization has no sensitive-field denylist: password hashes, privilege flags, and PII on a public view attribute are sent to the client","modified":"2026-10-01T17:55:48.304846128Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"djust","purl":"pkg:pypi/djust","ranges":["<1.0.7"],"fixed":["1.0.7"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-4045","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-4045","summary":"djust's Django model serialization has no sensitive-field denylist: password hashes, privilege flags, and PII on a public view attribute are sent to the client","modified":"2026-10-01T17:45:02.054819605Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"djust","purl":"pkg:pypi/djust","ranges":["<1.0.7"],"fixed":["1.0.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
