{"cve":"CVE-2026-61560","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-15T22:16:58.040","modified":"2026-09-30T17:51:56.193","status":"Deferred","description":"`@zereight/mcp-gitlab` is a Model Context Protocol server for GitLab. Prior to version 2.1.27, the SSE transport mode (`SSE=true`) exposes all MCP tools without any authentication. The `upload_markdown` tool reads arbitrary files from the server's local filesystem via an unsanitized `file_path` parameter and uploads them to a GitLab project. Combined, any unauthenticated network-reachable attacker can read `/proc/self/environ` to steal the server's `GITLAB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN` and achieve full GitLab account takeover. This is the default configuration for Docker deployments. Version 2.1.27 contains a patch.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/pull/482","https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/pull/554","https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/pull/622","https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/security/advisories/GHSA-cv3r-c5h8-f4g5","https://github.com/zereight/gitlab-mcp/security/advisories/GHSA-cv3r-c5h8-f4g5"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-61560","score":0.02901,"percentile":0.86853,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cv3r-c5h8-f4g5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cv3r-c5h8-f4g5","summary":"@zereight/mcp-gitlab: Unauthenticated arbitrary file read via `upload_markdown` enables PAT exfiltration and full account takeover","modified":"2026-09-16T14:00:04.532614697Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@zereight/mcp-gitlab","purl":"pkg:npm/%40zereight/mcp-gitlab","ranges":["<2.1.27"],"fixed":["2.1.27"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
